We arrived at our destination, parking close to the Illecillewaet bridge, car doors closed behind us and on our adventure we were!! We walked the gravel path alongside the water that moved down the way. The temperament of the weather was stark and clouds hung in the sky as the sun tried to emerge on this spring afternoon. Once we reached the ‘locals only’ sign that separates the pathway we wandered through the trailer park lane to get to the rest of the pathway that takes you to the old water tower.
Along the waters we walked through a forested pathway, and over a wee bridge, then we were near our destination. To our left were folk playing frolf (Frisbee Golf), and just a short stroll ahead lay the abandoned tower. It stands tall amidst the trees and I like to pretend it’s a castle turret, since it’s the closest thing I can get to an actual castle these days, this side of Scotland!!!!
My faithful model, Steph stood in and around the tower that has been laden in graffiti from local hooligans, posing and if you had been an observer you would have noted that I, the photographer, was having some significant issues getting a good angle and the trees got the best of me!!! A few scratches and trips later we came up with some fun footage of the tower. Then of course, we got our donut fix and laughed at all the memories we just made!!
Make sure to take this short adventure walk while you are in Revelstoke!! A few short steps from the water tower right at the river are some beautiful rapids with a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains and if you look backwards up the river you will see Mt Begbie. This is a spot you shouldn’t miss.
If you are wanting to extend the walk you simply follow the pathway that is right at the tower upwards and you can get to a little lookout to oversee the water flowing from above.
