Ever wonder why we depict ghosts wearing sheets as Halloween costumes this time of autumn?
I never really thought about it until I recently read an article by Accidentally Wes Anderson that stated that back in the day coffins were just too blasted expensive for folk and this is why the departed were wrapped in sheets to pass over to the other side.
How interesting!!
I have embraced the #ghosttrend for a few years now and always love finding folk to be my models.. I have a few favorite models whose names and persona wont be divulged here… but if you know… you know!! I love coming up with new ideas on how to capture those who haunt our favourite haunts and this particular shoot was taken in the heart of an old mining town’s valley near a mountain side town, deep in the woods.
Don’t be spooked if I ask you to done a sheet and be my next victim!!
SBOMB CLOTHING CO
SBOMBCO is run by Stephanie a local to Revelstoke since birth. She is one creative gal and her clothing items show her humour and talent. She started her endeavour by painting her art onto hats (mostly snap backs but also moved into panel hats), which have become a staple to most who reside in Revelstoke.
Her natural ability and artistic technique really show through in her unique designs.
Steph also does custom orders so if you have an idea you want put onto an article of clothing she’s your gal, her Instagram handle will show you so many sweet designs she’s nailed.
She gets her inspiration from the natural surroundings of our scenic mountain town and recently decided to expand her hat company and offer her faithful customers, t-shirts, hoodies, and crew necks. She also carries vacuum tumblers to keep your drinks warm or cold and really cute camping mugs.
Make sure you check out her Instagram page @sbomb_co as well as her website www.sbombco.com for all the collections she has on offer right now.
It was a chilly drive up the mountain for this photo shoot but well worth it, despite the seasons first snowflakes that were falling as we settled into the shoot near the Echo Lake. At least everyone had some warm clothing to sport around the campfire for this shoot and they looked good sipping on some tasty Mt Beggbie brewing Co beer and some local Oteas tea.
You wont want to miss out on this local clothing company so make sure you check out her work and give this Canadian some support.

Meet Stephanie;
She’s called Revelstoke home for over a year now and it was so much fun to photograph her in our very short autumnal window.
Stephanie hails from Bohol in the Philippines, with it’s population of about 1,313, 500 I couldn’t help but wonder how she felt about living in a small Canadian mountain town? She absolutely loves it saying, "I've been to amazing places here! It’s quite different than home, because it's way colder here. I’ve been able to meet some awesome people, take in some amazing scenery and I look forward to making the ski hill my playground this winter.”
Stephanie moved to Revelstoke about a year ago to study, she’s taking the Tourism Management Diploma at Okanagan College here in town and likes it a lot.
I met Steph while working this past year and her bubbly personality and humor are what helped us through some interesting shifts at the start of the pandemic!!
If you want a good laugh, make friends with your co-workers and ask them to do a hair flip for your photography page!!!
WILD & FREE - GABI
Gabi is one of the kindest, funniest souls you could possibly meet. This wonderful human is someone I had the chance to meet at a previous job. She studied Baking and Pastry Arts at Humber College before moving to Revelstoke.
Gabi’s Revelstoke story goes beyond calling this place home for the last few years, she’s fortunate enough to have relatives that have firmly planted their roots here. This made it easy for Gabi to visit Revelstoke as a child and take in the sweet sweet smell of the bakery her aunt owned and that Gabi is now employed at. If you haven’t been to the Modern Café and Bake Shop yet, have you really been to Revelstoke??!!
When Gabi isn’t creating delicious treats in the café, hanging with friends or getting her dance on, you can find her out in nature or on the slopes through the winter months.
This shoot was taken during the early days of the lock down let-up when our weather was cooperating and we had a blast traipsing about finding spots to photograph this beauty in.
ANDREA UNFETTERED [SHELTER BAY]
After a brief 40 minute drive south in the car from the town of Revelstoke, you will have reached Shelter Bay; the port situated on the Upper Arrow Lakes surrounded by both the Selkirk and the Monashee Mountains. From here you can access the free ferry taking you across the lake to Highway 23 & 31 South in British Columbia.
If you want a day trip this is the route to embark on, because not only will you encounter a sandy beach at the day use area but you can also see some of the most striking views while crossing the ferry, or you can choose to have a picnic at the camp ground by the boat launch.
Nestled between captivating mountains, unreal water tones, fragrant forest and scorching sunshine was the location for this photo shoot with Andrea.
You wouldn’t believe this mama isn’t a model, for she was natural through and through and up for all sorts of ideas during the shoot.
The forest met our senses and we came alive as we wandered the bank of the river, clambering over rocks, taking twigs out of our hair and even a splash into the (freezing) waterway for (the brave soul) Andrea !!!
